Laser Hair Removal: You'll Wonder Why You Waited So Long

Raise your hand if you're tired of dealing with unwanted body hair. While it may not seem like a huge deal, continuous plucking, waxing, and shaving can become a tedious chore over time. Fortunately, you can put your unwanted body hair behind you with laser hair removal.

At Natura Dermatology & Cosmetics, our board-certified dermatologist Will Richardson, MD, and our team offer cosmetic laser treatments, including hair removal.

Here's what you need to know about how this treatment can get rid of your unwanted hair with minimal hassle and long-lasting results.

Say goodbye to unwanted body hair

No matter where your unwanted body hair grows, you can only get to the root of the problem with laser hair removal treatments.

At our practice, we use state-of-the-art laser, light, and radiofrequency technologies to target and permanently disable the unwanted hair follicles located all over your body, including your:

The length of a hair removal appointment and your level of discomfort vary depending on the size and location of the treatment site. In some cases, an appointment can take just a matter of minutes.

How the elōs™ laser system works

At Natura Dermatology, we rely on the elōs system for laser hair removal treatments. This dynamic solution makes plucking, shaving, and waxing a thing of the past by targeting and disabling your hair follicles.

During the treatment, elōs delivers gentle pulses of two kinds of energy to the treatment site. First, it heats your hair shaft. Then radiofrequency energy encircles the hair follicle and heats it up.

This approach not only stops hair from growing in this follicle, but it also triggers collagen production, the connective tissue in your skin that provides structure. So it eliminates unwanted body hair while improving the appearance of your skin at the same time.

Hair removal treatments with elōs are gentle and well-tolerated by most of our patients, but some people describe the sensation as getting repeatedly snapped with a rubber band. If you have concerns about your sensitivity, we can apply a topical anesthetic before your session.

After your treatment, you should be gentle with your skin as it recovers, especially during the first 24 hours. Avoid immersing the area in hot water and exposing it to sunlight. In the days and weeks following treatment, your hair starts to fall away. These follicles won't produce hair again.

How to get the best results

The secret to getting long-term results with laser hair removal lies in getting a series of treatments. That’s because your hair naturally grows in waves, so we can only disable the follicles actively producing hair during a laser treatment session.

You shouldn’t wait too long to get started because it takes multiple laser hair removal treatments for you to see your best results.

In order to target every follicle in your treatment area, you need to come in for about 4-8 treatments, spaced approximately six weeks apart, to allow healing and the activation of a new wave of follicles. You should also skip plucking and waxing during the treatment process.
